What Trademark Class 14 Covers
Class 14 includes mainly precious metals and certain goods made of precious metals or coated therewith, as well as jewellery, clocks and watches, and component parts therefor.
This class includes, in particular
- jewellery, including imitation jewellery, for example, paste jewellery
- cuff links, tie pins, tie clips
- key rings, key chains and charms therefor
- jewellery charms
- jewellery boxes
- component parts for jewellery, clocks and watches, for example, clasps and beads for jewellery, movements for clocks and watches, clock hands, watch springs, watch crystals
- certain goods made of precious metals not otherwise classified by function or purpose, for example, all-purpose boxes of precious metal, statues, busts and works of art of precious metal
What Class 14 Does Not Cover
These look close to Class 14 but are classified elsewhere. Filing them here draws an objection, so pick the class named in brackets.
- certain goods made of precious metals or coated therewith that are classified according to their function or purpose, for example, metals in foil and powder form for use in painting, decorating, printing and art (Class 2), dental amalgams of gold (Class 5), cutlery (Class 8), electric contacts (Class 9), pen nibs of gold (Class 16), teapots (Class 21), gold and silver embroidery (Class 26), cigar cases (Class 34)
- smartwatches (Class 9)
- charms, other than for jewellery, key rings or key chains (Class 26)
- objects of art not made of precious metals or coated therewith that are classified according to the material of which they are made, for example, works of art of metal (Class 6), of stone, concrete or marble (Class 19), of wood, wax, plaster, plastic or resin (Class 20), of porcelain, ceramic, earthenware, terra-cotta or glass (Class 21)

Filing a Trademark in Class 14
The Trade Marks Registry classifies goods and services by the current edition of the Nice Classification (rule 20, Trade Marks Rules, 2017). One application in Form TM-A can cover Class 14 alone or several classes together; the fee is charged for each class.

- Search the mark in Class 14 and in the related classes before filing.
- Describe the goods in the words of the list wherever they fit.
- File in every class you trade in; protection does not extend to a class you left out.
