State FSSAI License — For Growing Food Businesses
Obtain your State FSSAI License for food businesses with annual turnover between ₹1.5 Crore and ₹50 Crore (revised thresholds from 1 April 2026). Perpetual validity, Form B application, state food safety department approval. TaxClue handles end-to-end — documentation, FoSCoS filing, inspection support, and compliance.
What You Need to Know
A State FSSAI License is required for mid-sized food business operators under the FSS (L&R) Regulations 2011. From 1 April 2026, the turnover threshold has been revised to ₹1.5 Crore to ₹50 Crore (previously ₹12 Lakh to ₹20 Crore). This means many businesses that previously needed a Central License now fall under State licensing.
The license is issued by the State Food Safety Department (designated officer) after application via Form B on the FoSCoS portal. A pre-license inspection may be conducted. From 2026, licenses have perpetual validity — no periodic renewal.
TaxClue manages the complete process including Form B preparation, FoSCoS filing, inspection coordination, food safety plan, and ongoing compliance (annual return, FoSTaC, Schedule 4).
MAJOR AMENDMENT — Effective 1 April 2026
FSSAI Amendment Regulations 2026 (Gazette Notification 10 Mar 2026) introduce: Revised turnover thresholds — Basic Registration up to ₹1.5Cr (was ₹12L), State License ₹1.5Cr–₹50Cr (was ₹12L–₹20Cr), Central License >₹50Cr (was >₹20Cr). Perpetual license validity (no periodic renewal). Instant registration on document submission. Deemed registration for street vendors. Risk-based inspections. Mandatory third-party audits on FSSAI direction.
