What drives your accounting fee

An accounting and compliance fee is the sum of the services a business is legally required to file, plus the bookkeeping that feeds them. Three things move it most: the type of entity (a company carries more filings than a proprietor), the turnover (more transactions and, above the thresholds, audits), and GST registration (monthly or quarterly returns).

Entity
Companies and LLPs add MCA annual filings
Turnover
Tax audit above the 44AB thresholds
GST
Regular returns monthly · composition quarterly
Bundles
Taking several services together lowers the total

Which services are mandatory?

Every business

An income-tax return every year. Books of account are compulsory for a business once income or turnover crosses the section 44AA limits, and practically needed to file anything accurately.

GST-registered

Regular taxpayers file GSTR-1 and GSTR-3B (monthly, or quarterly under QRMP) and an annual GSTR-9 above the threshold; composition dealers file CMP-08 quarterly and GSTR-4 yearly.

Companies & LLPs

A company files AOC-4 and MGT-7/7A and needs a statutory audit every year whatever its turnover; an LLP files Form 8 and Form 11, with audit above ₹40 lakh turnover or ₹25 lakh contribution.

Employers & deductors

Anyone deducting TDS files quarterly TDS returns; employers also run payroll with PF, ESI and professional tax where they apply.

01How is the accounting fee estimated?

Each service you select has a base annual fee, which is scaled by your entity type and your turnover band. Selecting two or more services applies a bundle saving — 6% for two or three services and 12% for four or more.

02Does the estimate include GST and government fees?

No. The figure is the professional fee only. GST at 18% is charged on professional services, and government fees (for example MCA filing fees or late fees) are extra at actuals.

03Which accounting services are mandatory for a private limited company?

Every company must maintain books, get a statutory audit every year regardless of turnover, file AOC-4 and MGT-7 or MGT-7A with the ROC, and file an income-tax return. GST, TDS and payroll filings apply where the company is registered or deducts tax.

04Why does turnover change the fee?

Higher turnover usually means more transactions to record and reconcile, more GST data to file, and — above the section 44AB thresholds — a tax audit. The turnover band is a proxy for that workload.

05Is this the final fee?

No. It is an indicative estimate. The final fee depends on the number of transactions, bank accounts and employees and the state of your existing books, and is confirmed in a written engagement after a short discussion.
