What a company's status means
Registered and on the Register of Companies. It must keep filing annual returns and financial statements.
A strike-off application or ROC notice is pending. The company still exists until the name is removed.
Formed for a future project or holding an asset, with no significant transactions, and granted dormant status under Section 455.
Removed from the register and dissolved. It can come back only through an NCLT restoration order.
Being wound up. A liquidator controls the assets and settles creditors before dissolution.
Merged into another company under a scheme and dissolved without being wound up.

What is a CIN?
A Corporate Identity Number (CIN) is the 21-character code the Registrar of Companies allots to every company incorporated in India. It encodes whether the company is listed, its industry (NIC code), the state of registration, the year of incorporation, the company type and a registration number.
How do I search for a company?
Type the full registered name (for example RELIANCE INDUSTRIES LIMITED) or the 21-character CIN into the search box. A CIN takes you straight to the company page. Name search matches the registered name exactly, so include PRIVATE LIMITED or LIMITED if you know it.
Is this company search free?
Yes. Searching and viewing company master data on TaxClue is free and needs no sign-up. The data comes from the Company Master Data the Ministry of Corporate Affairs publishes on data.gov.in.
Why can't I see directors or financial statements?
Director details, charges and filed financial statements are not part of the free MCA master dataset. You can request a full company report from any company page and our team will pull these from the MCA portal.
What does "Strike Off" mean?
A struck-off company has been removed from the Register of Companies, either on its own application or by the Registrar, and has ceased to exist as a company. It can be restored only through an NCLT order.
