AGMARK certification
AGMARK is the government grading mark for agricultural produce — spices, pulses, ghee, honey, vegetable oils and more — certifying quality against grade standards. It is compulsory for a few products and a quality signal for the rest.

How AGMARK certification works

- Packers of graded agricultural products for the domestic market
- Exporters of commodities where the importing country asks for AGMARK
- Producers selling to government buyers who specify AGMARK
Documents usually asked for
- Proof of the premises and the grading laboratory (own or approved)
- Details of the commodities and grades
- Constitution of the business and identity proof
- Chemist's qualifications for the grading lab
The process
- Set up or tie up with an approved grading laboratory
- Apply online to DMI for a certificate of authorisation
- Inspection of the premises and the lab
- Authorisation granted; grade and mark each lot
