SEBI Research Analyst Registration in brief
Who it applies to, what it costs, how long it takes and which law governs it — before the details.
SEBI Research Analyst registration is required for anyone who issues research reports or buy / sell / hold recommendations on listed securities — including paid tips, subscription calls and stock-market research published on apps or social media. It is governed by the SEBI (Research Analysts) Regulations, 2014, amended in December 2024 to introduce a part-time RA category (up to 75 clients), remove the experience requirement, replace net worth with a client-linked deposit under lien to the supervisory body, and add a fee cap for individual and HUF clients. Applications are filed online with BSE Ltd, recognised as the Research Analyst Administration and Supervisory Body (RAASB), and SEBI grants the certificate.

What Is SEBI Research Analyst Registration?
A quick, plain-language explanation before the details.
SEBI Research Analyst registration is the licence that lets an individual or firm publish research reports and stock recommendations to clients or the public in India.
The SEBI (Research Analysts) Regulations, 2014, made under the SEBI Act, 1992, require every person acting as a research analyst to be registered with SEBI. The Third Amendment Regulations, 2024 (December 2024) introduced the part-time RA, changed qualification and deposit rules and added disclosure norms, with detailed guidelines issued by SEBI circular dated 8 January 2025.
SEBI grants and regulates registration. BSE Ltd is recognised as the Research Analyst Administration and Supervisory Body (RAASB); applications are submitted on BSE’s online interface and RAs are administered through BSE Administration & Supervision Ltd (BASL).
Registration continues while the RA pays the prescribed fees, maintains the deposit and NISM certification and complies with the Regulations. SEBI can suspend or cancel it for violations.

Individual RAs no longer prove net worth. A deposit with a scheduled bank under lien to the RAASB is maintained instead, starting at ₹1 lakh for up to 150 clients and rising with client numbers.
Part-time RA conditions
A part-time RA — an individual or partnership firm with another occupation — may serve up to 75 clients at a time and needs an employer NOC where employed.
AI use must be disclosed
The amended Regulations require RAs to disclose the extent of use of AI tools in research, and the RA stays responsible for the output.

| Online application to BSE (RAASB) | Filed once documents are complete |
