Section 5 of the Multi-State Co-operative Societies Act, 2002 allows registration of a society whose main objects serve the interests of members in more than one State, with bye-laws for members’ social and economic betterment through self-help and mutual aid on co-operative principles. Members State by State
For an individual-member society, at least 50 persons from each State concerned must sign. Where members are co-operative societies, the Act prescribes a minimum number of societies not registered in the same State.
