Udyam registration and verification are free and paperless on udyamregistration.gov.in — the only official Government of India portal. Many paid look-alike websites charge a fee for "verification" or "certificate download"; you never need to pay for either. Always check the URL before entering your URN or OTP.

The "Verify Udyam Registration" option lets anyone confirm that a URN is genuine and view the enterprise's basic registration details. To open, download or print the full certificate, the portal sends an OTP to the mobile number linked to that Udyam registration, so certificate download is available to the enterprise owner (or anyone with access to that OTP).

Two different actions

Verify vs Print / Download — What's the Difference?

People often mix up "verifying" a URN with "downloading" the certificate. They are two separate options in the Print/Verify menu.

Verify

Verify Udyam Registration

  • Confirms a URN is genuine
  • Shows basic enterprise details
  • No login required
  • Useful for third parties checking a supplier
  • Free
vs
Print

Print / Download Certificate

  • Opens the full signed certificate PDF
  • Enter URN, then OTP to registered mobile
  • For the enterprise owner or authorised person
  • Includes QR code & digital signature
  • Free — download any number of times
The URN format explained

A URN looks like UDYAM-DL-01-0012345. XX is the two-letter state code (DL, MH, KA…), the next two digits are the district code, and the final seven digits are the unique serial number. Enter it exactly as printed, including the "UDYAM-" prefix and hyphens.

OTP not arriving?

The OTP goes to the mobile number linked to the Aadhaar used at registration. If that number has changed, update it on the portal first (the "Update Details / Forgot Udyam Number" flow) before you can download the certificate. Check network/DND settings and wait a minute before requesting a fresh OTP.

Lost your URN or can't receive the OTP? We can help you recover and download it.

Why it matters

Why Verify an Udyam Certificate?

  • Banks & lenders verify Udyam status before sanctioning collateral-free MSME (priority-sector) loans.
  • Government & PSU tenders and the GeM portal check Udyam registration for MSME benefits and exemptions.
  • Buyers & large suppliers confirm MSME status for the 45-day delayed-payment protection under the MSMED Act.
  • Fraud detection — verifying on the official portal (or scanning the QR code) confirms a certificate is genuine and not fabricated.
Legacy registrations

Verifying an Old Udyog Aadhaar (UAM)

Udyam replaced the earlier Udyog Aadhaar Memorandum (UAM) system. Old UAM registrations were meant to migrate to Udyam; if yours has migrated, verify using the new URN. If it was never migrated, you must register afresh on the Udyam portal to obtain a valid URN, as UAM numbers are no longer treated as active MSME registrations.

  • You have the correct URN (UDYAM-XX-00-0000000)
  • You are on udyamregistration.gov.in (not a paid clone)
  • The registered mobile can receive the OTP (for download)
  • Enterprise name & classification match the certificate
  • The PDF shows a QR code and digital signature

Verify Udyam Registration — Frequently Asked Questions

How to verify
How do I verify an Udyam registration certificate online?
Go to the official portal udyamregistration.gov.in, click "Print / Verify" and choose "Verify Udyam Registration". Enter the Udyam Registration Number (URN) in the format UDYAM-XX-00-0000000 to confirm the enterprise details are genuine. To download or print the full certificate, use "Print Udyam Certificate", enter the URN and complete the OTP sent to the registered mobile. Verification is free and needs no login.
Is there a fee for verifying Udyam registration?
No. Verification, printing and download on the official Udyam portal are completely free. Udyam registration itself is free and paperless. Any website charging a fee for verification or certificate download is a private, unofficial service — you never need to pay the government for it.
Do I need to log in to verify an Udyam certificate?
No login is required to verify a URN. The "Verify Udyam Registration" option is publicly accessible — you simply enter the URN to confirm the registration is genuine and view basic enterprise details. Only downloading the full certificate needs an OTP sent to the registered mobile number.
Can anyone verify an Udyam registration certificate?
Yes, anyone can confirm that a URN is genuine using the public "Verify Udyam Registration" option, which shows basic enterprise details without an OTP. However, downloading or printing the full certificate requires the OTP sent to the enterprise's registered mobile, so a third party would need the owner to share the printed certificate (its QR code allows independent verification) or the OTP.
URN & OTP
What is the format of the Udyam Registration Number (URN)?
The URN follows the format UDYAM-XX-00-0000000, where XX is the two-letter state code, the next two digits are the district code, and the last seven digits are a unique serial number. For example, UDYAM-DL-01-0012345. Enter it exactly as shown, including the "UDYAM-" prefix and the hyphens.
What if the OTP does not arrive on my mobile?
The OTP is sent to the mobile number linked to the Aadhaar used during Udyam registration. If that number has changed, update it on the portal (via the Update Details / Forgot Udyam Number flow) before you can download the certificate. Also check for network issues or DND blocking, and wait a minute before requesting a fresh OTP.
I forgot my Udyam Registration Number — how do I find it?
Use the "Forgot Udyam / URN" option on the portal. You can retrieve the URN using your registered mobile number or email and an OTP. If your contact details have changed, you may need to update them first. Our guide on recovering a forgotten Udyam number walks through the exact steps.
Certificate & QR
How do I print or download the Udyam certificate after verifying?
After OTP verification under "Print Udyam Certificate", the certificate is displayed on screen. Use the "Print" button on the page, or your browser's Print-to-PDF option (Ctrl+P) to save a copy. You can download it any number of times using your URN.
Is the downloaded Udyam certificate a valid legal document?
Yes. The PDF downloaded from the official portal carries a digital signature and a QR code, and is accepted as a valid document by banks, GST authorities, tender/GeM portals and other government agencies. The QR code lets any third party independently verify authenticity.
What details are shown on a verified Udyam certificate?
A verified certificate shows the URN, enterprise name and organisation type, MSME classification (Micro/Small/Medium), major activity (Manufacturing or Service), NIC code and business description, date of registration, and (where linked) PAN and GSTIN. The owner's Aadhaar is partly masked for privacy.
Does an Udyam certificate expire or need renewal?
No. Udyam registration is permanent and does not expire, so there is no renewal. However, the enterprise details (investment and turnover) are updated based on linked PAN/GST data, which can change the Micro/Small/Medium classification. It is good practice to re-verify before submitting the certificate to a bank or tender.
Legacy & fraud
Can I verify a legacy Udyog Aadhaar (UAM) number on the Udyam portal?
Old UAM registrations were meant to be migrated to Udyam. If yours has migrated, verify using the new URN. If it was never migrated, UAM numbers are no longer treated as active MSME registrations, so you must register afresh on the Udyam portal to obtain a valid URN.
How can I tell if an Udyam certificate is fake?
Verify the URN on the official portal udyamregistration.gov.in and scan the QR code on the certificate — both should return matching enterprise details. Be wary of certificates without a QR code or digital signature, mismatched names or classifications, or those issued by non-government websites. When in doubt, cross-check the URN directly on the portal.
Which is the official website to verify Udyam registration?
The only official Government of India portal is udyamregistration.gov.in, run by the Ministry of MSME. All verification, printing and registration there is free. Numerous private sites mimic the portal and charge fees — always confirm the URL before entering your URN or OTP.
