What Is APEDA RCMC Registration?
A quick, plain-language explanation before the details.
APEDA RCMC gives your business a Registration-Cum-Membership Certificate so you can legally export scheduled agricultural and processed food products and claim APEDA and FTP export benefits.
APEDA is an Export Promotion body established under the Agricultural & Processed Food Products Export Development Authority Act, 1985. Exporters of products listed in the schedule to the Act must register with APEDA and obtain an RCMC, which DGFT recognises under the Foreign Trade Policy.
Administered by APEDA under the Ministry of Commerce & Industry. RCMC applications are filed on the DGFT common digital platform, which routes them to the relevant council.
An APEDA RCMC is valid for 5 years from the date of issue and is renewable. Product categories can be added or amended during the validity period.

A valid Import Export Code (IEC) from DGFT is a prerequisite for APEDA RCMC. We check your IEC is active before applying — and can obtain one if you do not have it.
RCMC is product-specific
APEDA RCMC covers the Schedule 1 categories you declare. Exporters dealing in multiple categories must include all of them — we verify your HS codes for complete coverage.
FSSAI where food is processed
An FSSAI licence is required for food processing / packaging businesses. Raw agro-commodity exporters may not need it — we confirm the requirement per product.
Bank certificate in prescribed format
APEDA accepts a bank certificate in its prescribed format or a cancelled cheque, showing the account holder’s name in the business’s name.

How Long Does APEDA RCMC Take?
| Stage | Expected Time |
|---|---|
| IEC & Schedule 1 verification + document collection | Depends on document readiness |
| DGFT platform application & submission | Filed after documents are complete |
| APEDA review, query response & RCMC issue | Subject to APEDA processing |
The actual timeline depends on how quickly documents are provided and on APEDA processing. Complete, correctly-classified applications with a valid IEC move fastest. Officer queries pause the clock until you respond.
