📋 How to Search a Company on MCA21 — Step by Step

Go to mca.gov.in → Click on "MCA Services" → "Company/LLP Master Data"

Enter the Company Name or CIN in the search box. CIN is in format: U12345MH2010PTC123456

Complete the CAPTCHA verification and click "Submit"

View the Company Master Data — includes status, incorporation date, address, directors

For documents, click "View Signatory Details" or use the Document download section (fees may apply for certified copies)

CIN FORMAT EXPLAINED

U/L + Activity Code (5 digits) + State Code (2 letters) + Year + Company Type (PTC/PLC/GOI) + Sequence (6 digits)

🏷️ Company Status Codes Explained

Active

Company is duly registered and in compliance. Can carry on business normally.

Strike Off

Removed from register by ROC under Section 248. Cannot do business. Can be revived.

Under Liquidation

Winding-up proceedings initiated. Liquidator appointed. Assets being distributed.

Amalgamated

Merged with another company. CIN of resulting company shown in records.

Converted to LLP

Company converted to Limited Liability Partnership. New LLPIN assigned.

Dissolved

Winding-up complete. Company ceased to exist legally.

Dormant

No significant accounting transaction for 2+ years. Filed for dormant status.

Active (Filing Due)

Active but has pending compliance filings. May face action if not filed.

📄 How to Download Documents from MCA

Go to "Document Related Services" → "View Public Documents" (e-Form Filing History)

Enter CIN and select document type. Free documents: MGT-7 (Annual Return), AOC-4 (Financials), incorporation documents

For Certified Copies (COI, MOA, AOA): use Form CCA and pay ₹50–₹500 depending on document type

Free to view: Master data, filing history, charge details. Paid: Certified true copies, ROC-filed documents with digital signature verification.

👤 Director Information & DIN Lookup

Every director in India has a unique DIN (Director Identification Number) — an 8-digit number issued by MCA.

Go to mca.gov.in → "MCA Services" → "DIN Services" → "Director Master Data"

Enter DIN number to see director's name, date of birth, address, and all associated companies

DIN-3 KYC must be filed annually (by September 30) to keep DIN active
