Trade Marks Agent Examination likely on 9 January 2027 and Patent Agent Examination on 10 January 2027: tentative schedule announced

The Office of the Controller General of Patents, Designs and Trade Marks has announced a tentative schedule: the Trade Marks Agent Examination 2027 is likely on 9 January 2027 (Saturday) and the Patent Agent Examination 2027 on 10 January 2027 (Sunday), at 15 centres. Both have Paper I, Paper II and a viva voce.

The tentative dates

According to a release of the Ministry of Commerce & Industry dated 6 August 2026, the Office of the Controller General of Patents, Designs and Trade Marks (CGPDTM) has announced that:

  • the Trade Marks Agent Examination (TAE) 2027 is likely to be held on 9 January 2027 (Saturday); and
  • the Patent Agent Examination (PAE) 2027 is likely to be conducted on 10 January 2027 (Sunday).

The schedule is tentative — the release uses the words “likely” and “proposed” throughout.

The examinations are proposed to be held at 15 centres: Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chandigarh, Chennai, Delhi, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Indore, Jodhpur, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai, Nagpur, Pune and Thiruvananthapuram.
