By Public Notice No. 23/2026-27 dated 3 August 2026, issued under paragraph 1.03 of the Foreign Trade Policy 2023, the Director General of Foreign Trade has notified seven new Standard Input Output Norms (SIONs) at Serial Numbers A-3708 to A-3714 under “Chemical and Allied Product” (Product Code ‘A’).

For the three Meropenem norms, the public notice describes each vial as containing Meropenem Trihydrate equivalent to the stated quantity of Meropenem Anhydrous — 500 mg, 1000 mg and 2000 mg respectively. A note to the table says the content of bulk drug will be as per the Drug Manufacturing Licence (DML).
Why it matters
The public notice states its own effect: seven new SIONs under Product Group ‘A’ (Chemical and Allied Products) are being notified, and this will enable Regional Authorities to grant Advance Authorisations directly in eligible cases without referring individual applications to the Norms Committee. DGFT says this reduces processing time and ensures uniformity in fixation of norms.
What exporters should do
- If you export any of these seven products, quote the relevant SION number when applying for an Advance Authorisation, so that the Regional Authority can deal with the application directly.
- Check that the import item and the quantity you seek match the norm; the table fixes the quantity of each input allowed per unit of export product.
