Wheat, atta, maida and suji can be exported again: DGFT moves them from “Prohibited” to “Free”

Two notifications of 24 August 2026 revise the export policy of wheat under HS codes 10011900 and 10019910, and of wheat flour and related products under HS code 11010000, to “Free” with immediate effect.

The amendments are made in Schedule 2 of the ITC (HS) Export Policy, under section 5 read with section 3 of the Foreign Trade (Development and Regulation) Act, 1992.

What to note

  • Both notifications take effect immediately from 24 August 2026.
  • The notifications speak only of the export policy of these three codes. They do not mention any quantity limit or minimum export price.
