Why a Customs instruction matters here

The instruction is addressed to the officers who clear imports. It tells them that the IS 18112:2022 requirement for television sets, which was to begin on 26 July 2026, is not in force until 26 January 2027.

What importers of television sets should do

  • If a consignment of television sets is questioned at a port on the ground of IS 18112:2022 before 26 January 2027, cite Instruction No. 14/2026-Customs and MeitY Notification S.O. 4182(E).
  • Plan for compliance with IS 18112:2022 from 26 January 2027.

The instruction deals only with this one item and this one standard. It does not say anything about other requirements that apply to television sets under the Order.
