- DGFT has released an Open API for Certificates of Origin on the Trade Connect e-Platform.
- Exporters can integrate their ERP, accounting or other software to submit CoO applications electronically.
- The API covers preferential certificates under trade agreements and non-preferential certificates.
- Access needs onboarding credentials, a whitelisted public IP address and a document signer for digitally signed payloads.
What the document says
“an Open API facility for issuance of Certificates of Origin (CoOs) has been introduced on the Trade Connect e-Platform and is now being released and made available for use by eligible exporters/systems”
— DGFT Trade Notice 25/2026-27
What changes, and what does not
| Point | Position now | Changed? |
|---|---|---|
| Filing a CoO application | Can be sent from the exporter’s own system through the CoO File API | New |
| Verifying a certificate | Through the Certificate Verification API | New |
| Access token | Valid for 60 minutes; can be reused in that time | No change |
| Signing | Requests and responses digitally signed (SHA-256 RSA, 2048-bit X.509) | No change |
What an exporter should do
- If you file Certificates of Origin often, ask your ERP or software provider whether they will integrate with the CoO Open API.
- Get onboarding credentials from the API Management section of the CoO portal, and add your public IP address to its whitelist.
- Set up a document signer on your system: every payload has to be digitally signed.
