Common Questions

E-Commerce Seller — FAQs

Yes, 100% mandatory regardless of your turnover. Marketplaces like Amazon, Flipkart, and Meesho will not onboard you without a valid GSTIN. This is different from offline businesses where GST threshold applies. For online sellers, there is no exemption — register for GST before you list your first product.
Marketplaces collect 1% TCS (Tax Collected at Source) on the net taxable value of your sales. This is essentially pre-paid tax — you can claim credit for this amount in your GST return. Reconcile the TCS monthly with your GSTR-2B to ensure no mismatch. TaxClue handles this reconciliation as part of our GST filing service.
No, you need GST registration only in states where you have a warehouse or fulfillment center. For FBA (Fulfilled by Amazon) sellers, Amazon warehouses in different states may create a “place of business” — check whether you need multi-state GST registrations based on where Amazon stores your inventory.
Step 1: File a trademark application (TM-A) — TaxClue handles the entire process. Step 2: Once you receive the TM application number, apply on Amazon Brand Registry portal. The process typically takes 2–3 weeks after TM filing. Brand Registry unlocks A+ Content, brand analytics, and protection against hijackers.
All legitimate business expenses: purchase cost of goods, shipping and courier charges, marketplace commission fees, packaging materials, advertising spend (Amazon PPC, sponsored ads), internet and phone bills, office rent, laptop and equipment, professional fees, and software subscriptions. Proper record-keeping is essential — TaxClue helps maintain your books.
